The “Trauerwache Deutschland” is a public gathering with a closing funeral procession. This gathering is dedicated to those who have lost their lives since 2015 due to acts of violence by asylum seekers - in particular through assassinations, targeted attacks, or extreme acts of violence.
This event focuses on remembrance and gives it a symbolic voice and face. Many of the affected individuals were not mentioned in the media or in our society. At this event, relatives of the affected, emergency service personnel, rescue workers, as well as survivors are given the opportunity to share their thoughts and stories.
The event provides space for compassion, solidarity, and hope. The aim is to take a moment together to reflect on these tragedies, to offer comfort to the affected, and to create a unifying symbol of remembrance, as well as of hope that this will not happen again. Infants, children, adolescents, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and grandparents were suddenly killed by these acts, with no chance to say goodbye.
